The Love Fest

When we gather as a family, the only person little Susie has eyes for is Mommom. Well, actually, that is not the complete truth.  Mommom is the ONLY person Susie has anything to do with. She even neglects her own Mama. Mommom walks around all weekend with Susie on her hip. It's really quite funny.

Quincy's crew arrived on Friday night to celebrate Papa's birthday. When we got to Mom and Dad's, we were greeted in the usual fashion with Susie on her hips.

My heart did a flip flop when I saw Susie. She and Cozette stared at each other for a moment.

" Hi Susie, do you want to go upstairs and play with Cozette?"  I asked her.

Susie stared at me before she answered.

"Yes!"

She then proceeded to get down from Mommom.

They were inseparable for the rest of the weekend!

We had a fantastic time celebrating my dad's birthday.

The birthday gangstas are preparing to do their rap for Papa!

The fun bunch.

Today is Yours and My Day

This is not the first love letter I've received from Sydney. I received her first love note when she learned that I was not her Primary teacher this year. Tears came to my eyes when I read, "You are the best teacher I have ever had in my entire life."

That means a lot coming from a seven year old!

We planned for Sydney to come home with us after church two weeks ago. Her mom, Katherine, called the day before to explain that she could not come, because they had family in town to celebrate her birthday. I started cracking up when Katherine told me that Sydney did not want to celebrate her birthday with her family because she'd rather come to my house.

I want to share a little more about Sydney and my relationship with her family. Her Dad's family was in the ward I grew up in. He was a teenager when I was a little girl. Her Aunt Becky was my Sunday School teacher when I was 10 years old. I can honestly say that she was probably one of the best teachers I ever had. She took us on the most fabulous class trips. What is most meaningful to me is that Sydney's grandfather sealed me and Brad in the Atlanta, GA Temple when we were married.

Sydney came home with us after church on Sunday. We had the best time with her.  It's humbling knowing that you have earned the respect of a child--and in return, she has enriched my life with her love and friendship.

Sydney did not want me to interrupt her very important Wii game to take a picture. This is so funny. We were playing different sports to determine our Wii fitness age. I was terrible at baseball, and Sydney was squealing with laughter every time I missed. At one point she was laying on the ground kicking her legs up in the air, because she was laughing so hard at me. My Wii fitness age is 65, which is pretty sad. When it was Sydney's turn, she was not doing so great either. Her Wii fitness age is 80, and I really rubbed it in that she did even worse than I did!

Sydney was making bunny ears behind my head, but you can't see it.

I asked Sydney if she had as much fun at our house as she hoped to have.

"Oh, it was so much more fun!"

She's already planning to come again.

We can't wait!

Girls' Night Out

Last night Kayleigh wrote a status on facebook that stated, "So tonight was like one of the best nights of my life!" I can't express how much her words meant to me. I am so glad that I was a part of an evening that she enjoyed so much. Last night was girls' night out with Nikki, Kayleigh, Sydney, and me.

These three ladies are quite entertaining. I can't remember the last time I have laughed so hard.

The agenda was simple.

Dinner at Which Wich (Nikki and Sydney had never eaten there), shopping at Target, getting treats from Publix, and watching the movie Flipped. Kayleigh and Sydney spent the night with Nikki.

Yes. I got to go home.

Here are some highlights of the evening:

I forgot to take a picture of our decorted bag on the wall.
Kayleigh drew a stick figure picture of the four of us holding hands.

The girls got these crazy things from the dollar section.
I have no idea what it is or why they put it on their heads.

Styling and profiling in their convict attire.
Kayleigh has her dress on backward.
I don't think things like that matter in jail though.

Who knew that Target could be so fun?

Nikki bought sharp cheddar cheese sticks for her snack.

True or false?
