I Hope They Call Me on a Mission

I hope they call me on a mission,
when I have grown a foot or two,
I want to be a missionary,
to preach, and teach, and work
 as missionaries do!

My dad recently joked that he hasn't grown an inch in about 50 years! This is a joyful time for our family. My parents have been called to serve as missionaries in the Manhattan, New York Temple. They will report to the Missionary Training center in Provo, Utah on April 2nd.

It will be hard to imagine life without them for a year and a half. My parents live about three minutes from me. I haven't been separated from them since my own mission, which was almost 22 years ago.

Mom and Dad have never been so excited. It has been a life long dream of theirs to serve. We already call them Elder Parrott and Sister Parrott for fun. My dad is a convert to the church. He commented that having the title of "Elder Parrott" is the culminating event of his life.

I am thrilled for this opportunity they have to serve.

Truly, this will be a labor of love.

Ta Vaci Concert

It bothers me that I'm so behind with my blogging. I won't let it happen again, because I can see how easy it would be to simply stop. I've never been great a keeping a journal and this blog truly documents our lives.

Cozette has been a part of a children's performing arts group. Miss Betsy, aka Emma Gracie's mommy is the director. We always enjoy the Christmas concert. I asked Cozette what was her favorite part of the concert, and she replied, "wearing lipstick!"

A highlight of the concert is a very special visitor!

The world's most darling children.

Track Star

Kayleigh informed us that she wanted her room redecorated for Christmas, so Santa Claus brought her a new comforter, and we did the rest. After Brad painted Kayleigh's room, I decided I wanted to change the colors in my living room and dining room. We spent all of January working on our home, Everett broke his foot, and it seems a multitude of other things have been going on.

This is why I have not blogged in so long.

Kayleigh participated in her first track meet tonight. Her events were the one mile and 800 meter. She has the potential of becoming a great athlete. Everett commented that he really enjoyed watching Kayleigh in a sport. I thought his comment was very thoughtful considering Kayleigh has attended  countless baseball and football games of his!

Go, Kayleigh, go!
