Pahtay "Hot"tay !

Decorating the birthday table was my one accomplishment on Friday.

Literally. As I was preparing for Cozette's birthday party on Friday morning, with much anticipation for Bill and Shirley to arrive, I noticed that I was getting uncomfortably hot. I checked the thermostat to turn the air down and was panicked to see that my air conditioning was not working. I called Brad as quickly as I could thinking he could come home and fix it but it was to no avail. The air conditioning was BROKEN! We had to make several phone calls before we could find a technician that was available. After a very long, hot, miserable, sweltering day, the technician sadly informed us that we needed a new motor for our fan. We had to wait until the next morning before the air would be repaired. So, Cozette's first birthday party had to be cancelled due to a very hot house.

Are we having fun yet?

I am beginning to think we are jinxed. We can usually count on some sort of incident when Bill and Shirley come to visit. This is starting to become a family joke between us all. We did, however, enjoy a wonderful and relaxing dinner at Chili's that evening. Well, atleast I did. As you can see, Brad, Bill, and Shirley minded Cozette while I peacefully ate my dinner and took pictures of them struggling with her! Cozette greeted Grandma and Grandpa like they were her two best friends. We were truly delighted at how much she loved to be with them. The big adventure for the evening was getting to go stay at the hotel with Bill and Shirley. This was just heavenly for Kayleigh and Everett who both said, "It was worth getting all hot since we got to go stay at the hotel!"

Let's get the party started! On Saturday we finally celebrated Cozette's 1st birthday. Grandma and Grandpa gave her the cutest little penguin toy and a ball popper that Everett especially likes to play with. It really was a very special weekend being with Bill and Shirley in spite of the air conditioning drama.

Happy Birthday Cozette!

How Do I Love Thee?

Let me count the ways. Cozette Natalie Simpson has been with us for one year. Happy Birthday to the little love of our lives. I love to hear your Daddy, Kayleigh, and Everett talk to you. They speak with such love and adoration. Reflected in their voices is the absolute love we all feel . My heart smiles at the many terms of endearment we have for you. I thought it would be fun to list them all:

Darling (pronounced doll-ing), little darling, darling of my life, darling, you're darling!, the darlingest little darling, the cutest of the cuties, T.M.C. too much cuteness, T.M.L. too much love, sugar pie (pronounced sh-gah), sugar pie-pie, sugar pie honey, lump of sugar, sugar lump muffin, bunny, bunny muffin, rooster bunny (when she is a little naughty), love muffin, love of my life, chicky, chicky girl, little-you, Cozetty, Co-Co, hot Co-Co, and last but not least, our little Cozy. I am sure there's probably more!

You've come a long way baby!

I do have one small question. Why did you have to go to the NIC unit? I would like for you to answer that little Missy! (oh yes, there's another ♥ term.) We love you, Cozette, more than you will ever know.

It was music to my ears when Kayleigh came home yesterday and informed me that she was selected to sing in a special girls ensemble for chorus. About 104 girls auditioned and only four were selected. This is a very special opportunity for her. ♪♪

Everett is smokin' hot. Baseball season is upon us. His team is 2-0. He is a great little athlete. Tonight he got a double and a triple. And he is really good at stealing bases! Cozette was clapping for him tonight. It was too cute.

I do love you all like a pickle! Kayleigh's famous words.

Love At First Bite

Uh Oh! Cozette has a new trick. And it is a little e-e-e (that's code for naughty). She has discovered that she can use her four teeth to bite the furniture and she thinks it is funny. I try to be serious and say, "Cozette, darling, please do not bite the leather chair!" But she looks up at me with those big blue eyes and does it again. It doesn't help when Kayleigh and Everett are laughing egging her on. What am I to do? I guess I'll take some pictures.

Let the Festivities Begin...

The celebration has officially started! Our little Cozette is turning one on August 29th. We had our first celebration with Mommom, Papa, and Nikki last night. They will be leaving on Wednesday to go see Susie Q, so they will not be with us on Friday. I had to take a picture of her first official birthday cake, which I must add is not very pretty, so the bakery gave it to us for free when I expressed my concern that Cozette's name was not centered. We will gladly eat a not so pretty cake for free.

Cozette likes wrapping paper. At first she was a little timid but she very quickly realized that she liked the pretty package Mommom and Papa brought her. She received her very first push/riding toy. It is a little lion and she loves it. She runs with it across the floor. She received a very beautiful dress from Nikki. She also received a crocodile xylophone that she loves to play, I think she is already musical, and a Fisher Price pink pig piggy bank.

Oh the Smash Cake! This was just priceless. You never know how they are going to react. Cozette knew exactly what to do with that little cake, and she especially loved the purple icing. I think she would have eaten the entire cake if we would have let her. We had a wonderful time celebrating Cozette's birthday. Kayleigh and Everett said,"Birthday parties are so much fun!"
